Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Sarah (she/her) is a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) who graduated with her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University. Sarah is now accepting clients in-person and virtually through Bayside Wellness.
Sarah approaches counselling with a stance of acceptance, curiosity, compassion, and humility. This stance emphasizes the client as the expert of their own experience and allows them to feel empowered, recognize their strengths, and explore their values. The role of the therapist is to support the client in this growth by actively listening to them, validating their experience, and developing a safe and authentic connection that allows the client to feel safe to explore new behaviours.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist Sarah was working at the Pine River Institute for three years supporting youth and their families navigating addiction recovery. From this work Sarah has come to prioritize a trauma-informed approach and has learned how valuable a therapeutic relationship can be in healing from past relational traumas that fuel unhelpful coping strategies. Sarah is passionate about destigmatizing addiction, exploring how family dynamics can keep us stuck, and working with youth as they begin their transition into adulthood.
Additional academic credentials include an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) in Biology and Psychology from University of Toronto and an Addictions and Mental Health (ADMH) postgraduate certificate from Humber College.
